We are indebted to Good Old Boat magazine (May/June 2008) for the fine cover photo by reknowned marine photographer Onne van der Wal showing a beautiful Sea Sprite 23 "Scot Free", owned by Herb and Kristin Browne, with son Jim aboard. In the background is the landmark Mount Hope Bridge connecting Bristol, Rhode Island with Aquidneck Island. Inside this issue is a wonderful article (with some great additional van der Wal photos) about Clarke Ryder and the good old Ryder boatshop by prominent nautical writer Joe van Benten.

Ryder Classic Yachts is a full service yacht brokerage focusing on the buying and selling of classic yachts, sail and power. The experience of the company’s president, Clarke Ryder, includes production management at Bristol Yacht Company where he built all the early Bristols, creation of his own boat building company (Sea Sprite, Southern Cross, Black Watch), and private label marine manufacturing (Portsmouth Yacht/Eastward Ho, Sonar, Nightwind 35 and several others). Clarke has spent the last two decades as a successful marketing consultant and yacht broker.
